About

Vayehi Or, Hebrew for “Let There Be Light,” was the first piece Dar-Ya Naomi created after October 7.

Part of her ongoing exploration of prayer and spirituality, the work combines hand-drawn lines with fluid watercolor. At its center, a red, weeping sun holds the sorrow of that day, while the light radiating outward reflects the spiritual awakening Dar-Ya experienced through healing, resilience, and renewed faith.

It is a deeply personal work about holding grief and light at once, and finding illumination even after darkness.

Faith, In Full Color

Dar-Ya Naomi is an Israeli artist whose vibrant work explores prayer, spirituality, and Jewish tradition through hand-drawn lines and watercolor. A survivor of the Nova Music Festival, she returned to art in the aftermath of October 7 as a way to process, heal, and reconnect with faith.

Her work is part of the ESEK Nova Collection, supporting survivor artists as they rebuild their creative lives and livelihoods.
