Same Window. Different World.

For three years, David Hockney kept returning to the same subject: the view from the window of his Yorkshire home.

What changed was everything else.

The flowers bloomed and disappeared. Snow covered the rooftops. The sky shifted from pale morning light to brilliant pink sunsets to deep nighttime blue. Plants moved across the windowsill. Seasons passed. And Hockney kept looking.

Created between 2009 and 2012 using his iPhone and iPad, the 120 drawings in My Window turn an everyday view into an experiment in attention. Hockney embraced these new tools with the same curiosity he brought to painting, photography, printmaking, and nearly every other medium he encountered, using a screen not to make something feel more technological, but to capture something deeply familiar: light, color, time, and the pleasure of noticing.

Selected and arranged by Hockney himself, the works become something more when seen together. The window stays the same. The world beyond it never does.

Maybe that's the point.
