Beaded Pomegranate Necklace with hematite beads and gold pomegranate pendant from the Israel Museum

About

From Jerusalem, with purpose.

This Beaded Pomegranate Necklace comes to Poppy Lane from the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, where contemporary Israeli design meets centuries of Jewish art and tradition.

The sculptural pomegranate pendant is strung on faceted hematite beads. Long associated in Jewish tradition with blessing, abundance and beauty, the pomegranate gives this modern piece a connection to an enduring Jewish symbol. The museum itself uses those three meanings in its description, so we're completely grounded there.

We began carrying pieces from the Israel Museum after their team reached out during a period of dramatically reduced tourism in Israel. For the Israeli artisans whose work is sold through the museum, fewer visitors meant fewer opportunities for their work to sell.

Bringing a few of those pieces to Poppy Lane was one small way we could help.
